A Cute idea

I just found this through another blog and I think it is a cute idea. It is a booklet and each day you write down five good things that happened that day. I often find myself focusing on the negative more than the positive and I think this could be a good reminder to focus more on the good things. Go check it out and print one out for yourself.

I think I remember learning that for any negative comment you need something like three or five positive comments to counteract the negative effect. This applies to conversations or thoughts. This cute little book is a great reminder of that.

I like the story in the article about dinnertime... instead of a prayer, at our table, we ask each person what they are grateful for that night. In addition, at bedtime, we always ask the boys "what was the best part of your day." Sometimes, when something happened that needs reinforcing, we'll review the negative, and then brainstorm several things that could have been done differently in the situation, and then we'll end with the best part of the day. This helps them think through positive things they can do, and (I think) lets their brain focus on positive things during sleep... I hope anyway!

Thanks for the cute booklet, I think it will be a great extension of what we're doing with the boys, and I can use it with them to practice writing/reading! :D
