An Ode to Chick-fil-A

So what's a mother to do when her 2 year old has been in time out for most of the morning and you are at the end of your rope and it is nearing 100 degrees out. In my world that means you head to Chick-fil-A, at 10 am. They have great food, the place is always clean, the staff is extremely polite and they have a great playground. Perfect to run off some toddler energy and get a moment of rest for myself. Plus we are nearly out of feed here and I love the food so much I eat there at least three times a week, I am to the point that I will almost not eat at any other fast food place.

Afterwards we went to the mall with a friend and her kids for lunch and a little retail therapy. Alex didn't do so well at the mall play area, but at least I had my friend there for some mommy backup. Now we are home and the kids are upstairs in their rooms for naps and although I don't think that they are asleep they are both having a nice quiet time and I am enjoying a bit of a mommy break.

Here's a picture of the Alex with his Nana just to remind myself that he can be a pretty sweet kid. I just keep telling myself that someday he won't be two anymore.

What went on over the last week

Well it was a really busy week here last week. Monday we woke up to Abbie having a case of pink eye and a trip to the pediatrician. Then Tuesday my mom had another surgery so I spent the day cooking up goodies to bring to her and we drove out to her house that evening to bring my parents dinner and pick up our new trailer for a camping trip up near Sedona. That evening Alex went for a swim in my parents pool and on the way home cried the whole time that his ear hurt. We thought that he just had water in his ear so we stopped on the way home and picked up some stuff to dry out the water and that seemed to help for a little bit but not much. Once home we gave him some Tylenol and put him to bed. The next morning he was acting like he felt fine so I went to the gym to work out and left him with the childcare at the gym. The childcare came to get me at the end of my class because Alex was hitting another kid. Now we have had problems with Alex being aggressive and hitting, but never at the gym. Once in the car Alex started telling me that his ear hurt so I made an appointment with the pediatrician to have his ears looked at. That afternoon we saw Dr. Kathy for the second time in 3 days and found out that Alex had a double ear infection. Poor kid.
Thursday we finished packing up the trailer and left for a camping trip for the weekend to Page Springs (near Sedona). Friday we took the kids to see the fish at the Page Springs fish hatchery and then drove into Cottonwood to go to Walmart for all of the things that we had forgotten to bring along. Saturday we drove into Sedona to go 4-wheeling on Broken Arrow trail and have lunch with some friends of Joe that were spending the week in Sedona. This was Abbie's first 4-wheeling trip and she did great. Sunday we got up and packed the trailer and drove home.
Monday was my big all day test that will determine whether or not I will be a Lactation Consultant. I think that I did okay, but I won't know results until the middle of October. today Joe is home sick with a cold and I am trying to catch up with laundry and such. So now you know why I haven't written in a while :)

Pay it Forward

I have three people signed up for the pay it forward challenge. They are Fiona, Suzy, and Heather. I think that this will be great fun. I'll post pictures of the gifts as I get them done. Also, there has been a lot going on here in the last week and I plan on posting an update in the next couple of days.
